Production[]

On November 2, 2020, veteran actors Itzan Escamilla and Omar Ayuso revealed that they would not be returning for the series' fifth installment.[11] However, this was proven wrong when the two were recently spotted on set during the season's filming.

On Februrary 25, 2021, Valentina Zenere and André Lamoglia were introduced as new main characters for the season. On March 25, 2021, Adam Nourou's casting as another main character was revealed on the Elite instagram page. Miguel Bernardeau and Arón Piper will not be returning for the season, leaving Itzan and Omar as the only two remaining members of the original cast. On August 20, 2021, Isabel Garrido was added to the cast as a recurring character.

Filming for the season started in February 2021 and wrapped up in late June 2021.

Notes[]

  • This season marks the last season for Itzan Escamilla, Claudia Salas, Georgina Amorós and Pol Granch.
    • This was also supposed to be the last season for Omar Ayuso. Despite this, he eventually returned to Season 7, and to Season 8 with his former co-star Mina El Hammani, making him the only original character from the first storyline to appear in almost all of the seasons.
  • This is the first season without Mina El Hammani, followed by the sixth and seventh seasons. She would later return for the eighth season.
  • According to some sources, Ester Expósito and Danna Paola were rumoured to reprise their roles of Carla and Lu for this season. However, during interviews, the actresses denied the rumours and firmly stated that they will not return for the series.[12][13]
    • Expósito was only revealed to be appearing in the short stories that took place following the events of the third season and Paola stated that it was impossible for her to return as she was prioritizing her singing career.
  • Valentina Zenere had previously participated in another Netflix series, Cable Girls, being cast as a regular for its fifth and final season.
    • Just like her former co-star Jorge López, Zenere also gained worldwide recognition in the Disney Channel series Soy Luna, in which she played Ámbar Smith, the show's main antagonist. Had Jorge López remained in the series, this would've been their second collaboration together in a series after Soy Luna.
  • This is André Lamoglia's first Netflix series, having mostly featured in Disney series/TV specials such as Juacas, BIA and Bia: Un mundo al revés.
    • Valentina Zenere is also friends with André Lamoglia, since she appeared in the second season of Juacas reprising the role of Ámbar Smith. Her appearance took place in the middle of the third season of Soy Luna, still retaining her dark clothes and personality.
  • On October 28, 2021, again with the fifth season not released yet, the series was renewed for a sixth season, along with new short stories which were released on December, although now with a Christmas vibe instead of Summer like the previous ones.[14]
  • The release date was announced on March 14, 2022.
  • The official trailer was released on March 30, 2022.
