The sixth season of Netflix's Elite renewal was announced on October 28, 2021 along with the three new holiday-themed installments of the Elite: Short Stories.[1] It was released on November 18, 2022. It was shot back-to-back with the fifth season. Filming commenced in February 2022 and wrapped up in June of the same year.

Synopsis[]

Fresh off the heel of a death of another student, Las Encinas tries to turn a new page as a new school year rolls around. However, this season takes a political tone as systematic issues: racism, sexism, domestic violence, or LGTBI-phobia will be discussed in the halls of the prominent institution this season. New faces join in to help stand up against the corrupted system. If those in charge of the system do not actively address these concerns, it will be up to the students to do so.[2]

Production[]

On December 16, 2021, Carmen Arrufat and Álvaro de Juana were announced to have been cast as new main characters for the season.[4] [5] On January 31, 2022, the casting of Arrufat and de Juana for the sixth season was officially confirmed through the series's account, alongside new other actors, Alex Pastrana, Ander Puig and Ana Bokesa.[6][7][8] Filming started on February 10, 2022 and concluded on June 5 of the same year.

Notes[]

  • Netflix France confirmed in an Instagram post that Elite's sixth season will be the last of the series. However, a few days, Netflix France edited the caption and deleted part that stated Season 6 as the last in the series.[9]
  • This marks the first season without any cast members from Seasons 1-3.
    • This is the only season without Omar Ayuso. He would later return for the seventh and eighth seasons.
    • This is also the second season without Mina El Hammani, followed by the seventh season. She returned for the eighth and final season.
  • This season marks the first season to be released back-to-back in the same year as Season 5 debuted on Netflix a few months prior.
  • The release date was announced on September 26, 2022.
  • The official trailer was released on November 2, 2022.
  • This season marks the last season for Carla Díaz, Martina Cariddi, Manu Ríos, Adam Nourou, Carloto Cotta and Diego Martín.
    • Carloto Cotta briefly reprised his role in one of the episodes of the seventh season through a cameo.
  • This is also the only season in which Guillermo Campra, Ignacio Carrascal and Marc Bonnin appear as series regulars, after being credited in the fifth season through guest capacities.
  • This is the first season to not have an official poster of its own.
  • It was reported that Pol was supposed to star in this season, however, it was later reported that the actor dropped out two weeks into filming the sixth season, and quit the show to focus on his music career.
  • Because of the nature of Iván's accident shown at the beginning, the reduced amount of witnesses and the spot where it took place, this is the first season to not have the Inspector present, nor there are any interrogation scenes whatsoever.
    • This is also the first season in which an antagonist acts fast to protect a loved one from trouble before the authorities are notified of the incident in question.
  • This is the second season, after Season 4, to have the victim (Ari and Iván respectively) of the crime managing to survive their near-death experience. Samuel, who went missing in Season 2, does not count as he is eventually killed by Benjamín in Season 5.
